running

Went for my longest run ever a couple days ago, a 20 miler. Kept up a good pace, did 6 of the miles on a treadmill when it got dark and was doing about 6:48 per mile and felt slower than what I was doing outside. My legs felt like garbage the last few miles though. That pace will get me under 3 hours for the full marathon, which will qualify me for Boston by over 10 minutes, so that’s good. However, it’s hard to imagine running over a minute faster per mile for a full 26.2 miles. I got my work cut out.

From when I went to bed last night $283 in sales came in. Looks like a good amount of the sales are coming from my adwords campaigns so I’ll continue on with that and try to expand and increase my budget for it as well. I’m also looking to get into the PPC/affiliate game as well. I’ll need to spend a lot of time at the google adwords tutorials and at shoemoney’s blog to help get my skills down.

Marathon Training starts today. Think I’ll kick it off with an 18 mile long run. I’ll increase it to 22 miles over the next month. Boston here I come!

new york

Bloggin from New York. I’m up here to watch the marathon and see my two friends Bobby Cannon and Bernie Muller run. Bobby is trying to get the Olympic Trials Qualifying standard of 2:22. Coming back on Sunday, by the way Harlod and Kumar Go to Whitecastle is one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen. If you haven’t seen it definitely go out and watch it.

Here’s a couple pics taken of me running at Mayor’s Cup:

mayor's cup
either around the 2.5 or 4 mile mark, not sure which.

Shot taken at the finish, in the hurt locker. I won the kicking battle with the guy to my left for the record.

Less than $1,000 from the $10,000 mark! Should happen any day now. Also there’s a Brookline TAB article coming out about LinkExperiment.com and my running. It should be out Thursday, I’ll link to the article when it comes out. I think with the article coming out, the $10,000 mark will definitely be surpassed by a lot this week.

Also, I have added a “new” image new links next to text links that are less than one week old. This way it is easy to find the newest links on the page. I’ve got a 2 mile race on friday this week, although I woke up today sick, but hopefully it will pass by friday.

runningWEEK: 89 MILES

Sunday: 12 miles AM: 5miles trail PM: 7miles strides 4 miles, then 3 laps stride the straight jog the turn, 4 accelerations, 6 sprints, and a fast 300, 2 miles

Felt extremely good this workout. For the tempo tucked behind everyone the first couple miles. Tree and ian lead the first half, then MG took over the last 2 miles and tucked in behind him. Each mile felt better than the previous one, and by the end felt like I could run at least another 4 miles at the same pace. 1 mile cooldown

Wednesday: 13 miles AM: 0miles PM: 13miles seminary+

runningWEEK: 66 MILES

Sunday: 11 miles AM: 1miles shakeout PM: 10miles mayor’s cup warmed up 3 miles very relaxed, before the race I felt like I was ready to run hard, and told myself this one was going to be the hardest of my life. got OK off the field and was just behind bielecki. First mile tried to stay relaxed and tried to maintain contact with bielecki. Came through the first mile in 4:47 a bit fast. Second mile tried to maintain contact with the pack in front of me and stay relaxed. Lost a couple seconds on the hill because I wore track spikes and I couldn’t grip on the gravel. Came through the 2 mile in 10:00, so a 5:13 second mile. Knew I had to be passing people at this point because everyone was slowing down. Didn’t get a 3 mile split but was moving past people well. the fourth mile I started pressing pretty hard and came through in 20:05. Knew I could break 25 if I didn’t let up at all the last mile. Passed Mark Miller with about 3/4 mile to go, he repassed me and we caught another guy right before the final hill. Lost another couple seconds on the two of them because of the spikes again, and knew I’d have to catch Miller by the end of the downhill in order to have a chance of beating him. couldn’t close the gap but passed the other guy and started driving for the finish. The other guy came back on me in the final stretch, but being outkicked at lehigh left a bad taste in my mouth and I battled this guy off this time. Finished with a 24:51 good for 23rd. Going to try to get in one more higher mileage week next week and then start tapering for the rothman 8k. cooldown 2 miles very sore

Saturday: 9 miles AM: 4miles brookline ran with ian and scott around my house. PM: 5miles franklin park ran the course at franklin park, around 7:30 pace. Didn’t feel so great.

Friday: 9 miles AM: 4miles alumni PM: 5miles trail ran with jb/scott, another relaxed day, should be good and rested for the race, that’s for sure, foot felt fine.

Thursday: 10 miles AM: 3miles shakeout PM: 7miles trails felt pretty good today.

Wednesday: 9 miles AM: 2miles shakeout PM: 7miles trails took it nice and easy, foot a little sore.

Tuesday: 11 miles AM: 1miles shakeout PM: 10miles workout warmup 3 miles, cooldown 2 miles, 16×400 with 100 rest in 67, 69, 69, 69, 69, 68, 71, 70, 69, 70, 70, 71, 70, 69, 70, 68. did the full 8k in 26:21. Doc told us to keep the rests no slower than 30 and aim for around 70 for the quarters. Felt a little off the first few, then got into a groove, then my stomach started cramping up, but finished well. This stuff still feels pretty fast, as it should I suppose. Did this same workout faster than I have at this time of the year so that’s good.

Monday: 7 miles AM: 0miles PM: 7miles trails decided to take an easy week this week. After thinking about it I decided nothing bad could come of pulling back a bit this week only good. As it turns out this is probably for the best because my left foot was very sore on the bottom outside. Took it easy on the trails.

runningWEEK TOTAL: 90 MILES

Sunday: 14 miles AM: 0miles PM: 14miles saunders relaxed run

Saturday: 7 miles AM: 0miles PM: 7miles strides 4 miles then 3 laps stride the straight jog the turn, 3 acceleration, 4 sprints, 2 miles felt good

Friday: 14 miles AM: 5miles +drills PM: 9miles workout warmup 4 cooldown 2, 2×1600 with 10 minute jog rest in 4:34, 4:33 felt very uncomfortable with the pace but defintely good to do this workout. Need to work on my weakness which is faster paced stuff. Doing faster quarters next week probably so that should be good too, hopefully I’ll feel better for those.

Thursday: 10 miles AM: 5miles dentist ran to the dentist office and back. Got 2 fillings today. PM: 5miles trail ran easy with the poosefather. Nice outside.

Wednesday: 13 miles AM: 0miles PM: 13miles saunders+ ran with tree. Going at a decent pace at some points, felt pretty good.

Tuesday: 17 miles AM: 5miles trail PM: 12miles workout warmup 2 miles, cooldown 3 miles, did 6xalumni with 1 min rest in 5:14, 5:18, 5:16, 5:16, 5:20, 5:11 felt relaxed throughout. Pushed a bit on the last one. Worked on increasing my stride rate. Think my long slow stride hurts me in cross country because of the terrain so I’m going to see if I can make it faster/shorter.

Monday: 15 miles AM: 5miles trail +drills PM: 10miles balls deep+ ran with zach, jb, tree and dan. Relaxed pace, picked up a bit the last mile.

runningWEEK TOTAL: 100 miles
Sunday: 17 miles AM: 16miles saunders+ very very slow. We’re talking don letts pace. I think as season progresses my runs get slower because the workouts get harder and I need more recovery, although only 1 real workout this week, so who knows. PM: 1miles shakeout ok, I think we all know I’m doing this run just to hit 100 miles this week. If being a mileage whore is wrong, then I don’t want to be right.

Saturday: 12 miles AM: 5miles trail PM: 7miles strides did 4 miles, then 3 laps of stride the straight jog the turn. Followed by 4 accelerations, 6 sprints, and a fast 300, then 2 miles back home.

Friday: 10 miles AM: 5miles trail PM: 5miles crazy lady+ ran crazy lady with goats. Got a really sharp cramp at one point and had to walk. Easy day today.

Thursday: 16 miles AM: 5miles trail PM: 11miles reverse mount pleasant did mount plesant with a group of goats. Were cruising at a pretty good pace and felt very good throughout.

Wednesday: 12 miles AM: 0miles PM: 12miles balls deep very easy and relaxed on my own. got a pretty bad cramp last 2 miles, just trotted it in.

Tuesday: 17 miles AM: 5miles trail PM: 12miles workout up3 down2, 8×1000 with 400 jog in 3:03, 3:02, 3:01, 3:03, 3:01, 3:02, 3:03, 3:01 very good workout. Felt controlled throughout. I got a little cramp on the second one, probably because my body was getting used to the colder weather, and not used to losing much water. No wheezing, but throat was dry and weird. I think this asthma stuff is definitely working, my lungs feel different, unless i’m imagining things, which may be possible. Anyways, i think i definitely needed something faster than race pace. I’m running Mayor’s Cup on Oct 22nd in boston, think I should be in very good race shape for it.

Monday: 16 miles AM: 5miles trail +drills PM: 11miles saunders ran with zach, tree, ian. Felt pretty good. Took it easy.

runningWEEK TOTAL: 78 MILES

Sunday: 16 miles AM: 0miles PM: 16miles saunders+ felt very good

Saturday: 4 miles AM: 0miles PM: 4miles philly ran along the river and felt god awful again.

Friday: 12 miles AM: 2miles shakeout PM: 10miles lehigh warmup 3, cooldown 2, 25:29 for 8k good for 7th. Splits were 4:59, 5:11, 5:05, 5:15, 4:59. First 2 miles felt very easy/relaxed. Started working in the third mile, and slowed down a lot in the 4th mile. Mananged to run an OK last mile. Only light wheezing the last half mile, so I think the medication is working. That or it just wasn’t as bad today, but I’ll keep taking it and we’ll see. 1 second PR on this course, so that’s cool.

Thursday: 8 miles AM: 5miles trail PM: 3miles trail felt absolutely horrible for some reason. Trotted for 3 miles. Not sure what the deal is, got the sniffles a little, I think I get a little out of whack in the transition from summer to fall.

Wednesday: 12 miles AM: 5miles trail PM: 7miles 6×200 warmup 2, cooldown 3 did 6 200s in 32, 35, 33, 33, 33, 33 felt very relaxed.

Tuesday: 11 miles AM: 0miles PM: 11miles saunders ran with group of goats. Easy pace

Monday: 15 miles AM: 5miles trail +drills PM: 10miles half hill loop half campus got to practice late because I was seeing the asthma doctor. He told me I should stop racing, and I said I wouldn’t. So we’re going to try to up my medication and see if that works. Did a reverse hill loop until the school after the first hill. Then met up with scott and vaslow and finished with them. Vaslow and I went up the last hill at a good pace, then Vaslow pounded the rest home. I added on 2 alumnis at a slower pace, I clocked one of the miles at 5:48, so I figure Vaslow and I were definitely going sub 5:30 pace. Did 2 miles relaxed after everything.
